Women’s Basic Firearms Safety

Fortress Staff understands the apprehensions women students may have with regard to firearms. All of our Staff have been trained in the Effective Instruction of Female Students by Vicki Farnam, and are ready to address all questions and concerns in a calm, professional manner.

We provide a comfortable, low pressure learning environment which progresses to the next step only when you are ready. Our Women's Basic Firearms Safety course is designed to familiarize the client with proper gun safety and handling procedures.

Fortress believes that every member of the family needs to understand gun safety regardless of whether or not they will ever own a firearm.

We attempt to provide a staff member for every 2-3 students to provide the most personal instruction experience possible. If requested, a female instructor will be available to assist.

 

Student skill level required: None

Equipment: None, or your personal firearm.

Ammunition requirements: None

Duration: 4-hours

 

Teaching points include:

  1. Familiarization with types of firearms
  2. Proper handling
  3. The Four Rules of Gun Safety
  4. Chamber check (checking to see if firearm is
         loaded or unloaded)
  5. Safe storage
  6. Children and guns

 

We will travel to you and train you, or your group in home. Course is also available at our Crete, IL, location.

Laws regarding handgun ownership and carry rights vary greatly from state-to-state and each jurisdiction has its own rules and regulations. Fortress recommends that you consult with your own state's Attorney General's office before purchasing any firearm, or before you attempt to carry a handgun. Please remember that laws and statutes regarding firearms change almost daily throughout the United States; it's up to you to know the law!

AMMUNITION REQUIREMENTS
Fortress recommends the use of American made factory ammunition only! Foreign ammunition is often times dirty, smokey and lacking in quality control. Use of it can not only lead to stoppages but it absorbs valuable training time trying to repair dirty, non-functioning guns. We also do not allow the use of reloaded ammunition during our courses.
